MAY 5TH "HARBORSIDE PARADE" IN FREELAND!  We've got car clubs, marching bands, horses, and just about everything else in this year's parade!  See the parade then visit the fabulous shops and restaurants in our seaside community!  The town is all decked out in beach attire and waiting for you!  Parade time:  11 AM to 12:30 PM.  Parade route:  from Newman Road down Main Street to Myrtle.  Interested in participating in the parade?  Call the Freeland Chamber of Commerce for entry form:  360-331-1980 ($5 entry fee will help pay for parade prizes, nonprofits exempt).  To advertise your business on the event poster ($50), please email charlona@creativeadsolutions.net.  Join us for some island fun!  Enjoy the parade, or participate in the parade!  Everyone is welcome!

The purpose of our Fair is education. Quality exhibits from the farm, including all types of livestock and crops, horticulture and floriculture, are on display. From the home, all types of handwork are represented: clothing, needlework, art exhibits, baking, canning and fiber arts. The Island County Fair also provides entertainment and a place for all of us to gather with family and friends to celebrate the fruits of our labors and enjoy that which is so special about Island County.

September 22 - 23 2007 Whidbey Kite Festival 
Central Whidbey welcomes the Whidbey Island Kite Festival to the Camp Casey Conference Center, just south of Coupeville. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound, the kite festival features impressive ground and air displays of color and imagination. Activities include kids' kite making, beginning sport kite lessons, and sport kite demonstrations. 
The highlight of the weekend is the Whidbey Island Sport Kite Championships, one of the premier sport kite competitions in the Pacific Northwest. Individual, pairs, and team events are included. Competition takes place both Saturday and Sunday. The Whidbey Island Sport Kite Championships is an AKA-sanctioned

WAIF's 7th Annual Wag 'n Walk, A Festival of All Things Dog

Join the Whidbey Animals’ Improvement Foundation (WAIF) and your fellow dog lovers for WAIF's 7th Annual Wag 'n Walk, a festival of all things dog, on Sunday, September 10th from Noon to 4 p.m. at Greenbank Farm.  Wag ‘n Walk celebrates responsible and loving pet stewardship and promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for your canine pals and family.  WAIF dogs will be there, putting their best paws forward, hoping to connect with new loving families.  The entry fee, $15 per tail and $5 per person (children under 18 free), includes everything but food and drink.  Mouth watering food selections and drinks will be available for purchase, and plenty of fresh water will be provided for your canine companion as they participate in more games and contests than they can shake a bone at!  Dogs attending the festival must be kept on a leash at all times except where designated, and cannot be in any stage of heat or younger than 4 months.  Proceeds from Wag 'n Walk will benefit the shelter animals of WAIF.  For more information, please visit www.wagnwalk.org or call Amy Beckner at (360) 678-1366.

Nestled at the mouth of Puget Sound, Whidbey Island offers some of the most scenic vistas in all of Washington. As you travel on Whidbey’s back roads, you’ll experience unique changing scenery and varied terrain. You can choose from a challenging Century or 50 mile ride, or a more moderate 40 mile ride, all originating from Greenbank Farm. New for 2008 is a gentle, family-friendly beginner’s 10 mile ride which originates in the historic town of Coupeville.

The 100 mile figure-eight route will cover both the north and south ends of the island, returning you to the central location of Greenbank Farm at the middle and end of the day. This ride has become known as one of the most demanding Century rides in Western Washington. 

The Tour de Whidbey is a major fundraiser for the WGH Foundation, supported by the Auxiliary of Whidbey General Hospital, which assists in providing vital health care to the community.  We hope you will join us for some of the best cycling on Whidbey Island while contributing to providing quality health care for the island.

bank are also being collected.  Buy tickets for one of six great raffle 
baskets.  We've got the whole family covered starting with The "Mom 
Basket" which includes Seaside Spa tanning and manicure, goodies from 
Miriam's, a novel from The Kingfisher and more, a "Young Adult Basket" 
with go-kart and movie passes from The Blue Fox Drive-In, the newest 
Harry Potter book and more, the "Man Basket"--which includes gift 
certificates from The BBQ Joint, Whidbey Beer Works and from Coupeville 
Auto Repair a free oil change & a free six-cylinder tune-up worth $160! 
The "Date Night Basket" includes gift certificates from The Cove 
Restaurant, Toby's, movie passes, a Bayleaf cheese plate and more.  The 
"Family Basket" has passes to the Island County Historical Museum, movie 
and go-kart passes, and pizzas from Coupeville Coffee House.  Finally, 
the "Kid's Basket' includes books from The Kingfisher and Friends of the 
Coupeville Library, Miriam's cookies and caramels, and a gift 
certificate from The Honeybear.

Proceeds from ticket sales will support PTA educational programs at the 
Elementary School, including earthquake kits for each enrolled child, 
field trips and more.

Entry is free!  Game and raffle tickets will be available through 
pre-orders and at the night of the event.  Game tickets are 25 cents
