WHIDBEY ISLAND OPEN STUDIO TOUR
September 27 and 28, 2008

(Whidbey Island, Washington) - Over 75 artists will be participating in the 12th Annual Whidbey Island Open Studio Tour September 27 and 28, 2008, from 10AM-5PM. Painters, sculptors, photographers, potters, glass blowers, woodworkers, jewelers, and weavers will open their studios to give the public a unique opportunity to glimpse their creative worlds while demonstrating and explaining the creative process and selling their artwork during the two days of the tour.

Experience art at the source!
A unique feature of this year's tour is an expanded tour ticket in the form of a 15-month full color wall calendar and tour guidebook. This beautifully designed publication features artwork by each tour artist along with resources such as suggested tour routes and local information. Businesses such as restaurants, shops and lodgings that will help visitors enjoy their island visit will be listed, described and located on the full-sized map.

To further assist in planning your itinerary, an exhibit of each artist's work will be on display in the Coupeville Crockett Barn and at the Bayview Cash Store the week prior to the tour. Artists' receptions are also planned at the exhibits on Friday, September 19 in Coupeville, and Saturday, September 20 in Bayview.

Ticket /Calendar/Guidebooks, available this August, will be priced at $20. Each ticket will admit up to two adults. Please visit www.whidbeyopenstudiotour.org/tickets.html for an up-to-date listing of ticket venues, or to purchase online using PayPal.

Festival of Trees Gala and Auction tickets are on sale
A Whidbey Island holiday tradition returns to South Whidbey for the fifth year, as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County presents its annual Festival of Trees Gala and Auction.

This year’s festival will be held Dec. 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the
Useless Bay Golf & Country Club in Freeland. Tickets are $85 per person.
This entertaining formal event, featuring uniquely decorated trees and
wreaths for auction, benefits children in the community allowing them to
be matched in one-to-one relationships with positive role-models through
the nonprofit organization. Nationally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the leader in one-to-one
mentoring for more than 100 years.~ On Whidbey Island, the organization
has more than 11 years with proven success in creating positive
friendships that benefit children, volunteers, families, schools and our
entire community.

For years, dedicated tree decorators have created unique styles, which
have continued to bring joy to the buyers for years to come. The Festivals
of Trees is a community celebration designed to brighten the holiday
season while brightening the futures of children, organizers said. All
funds go directly to children’s services.
To reserve your tickets now, contact Big Brother Big Sisters of Island
County at 360-279-0644 or email bbbs@whidbey.net.
Other Festival of Tree events include the public tree and wreath viewing
