| A touch of
New England in the Northwest On a Whidbey Island overlooking the sea. Langley's
oldest Victorian Home. Visit The Maine Stay, and re-enter the world immortalized
in stories by author Robert McCloskey. Or, discover it for the very first
time. Wake to a morning in Maine, breakfast in the blueberry world of Sal
and Little Bear, and enjoy a wonderful time at The Maine Stay.
Enjoy breakfast
in the parlor, or on the veranda. Either place, seated in romantic white
wicker, you'll be served a fabulous, fresh meal and the view of sparkling
Puget Sound. Our rooms are reminiscent of eclectic New England cottages
at the shore. Warmth and charm fill every nook and cranny from the
welcoming veranda to the glassed in, back porch.
There are three
rooms to choose from, however, in keeping with the peace and tranquility
of the setting, only two of the rooms will be occupied at any given time.
The Saratoga Room a suite with private bath features two window seats and
French doors opening onto a balcony. The windows present breathtaking views
of sun and moon rise over the Cascade Mountains and the waters of Saratoga
Passage. The Sunflower room, an intimate garret with sunflower quilt and
pine floor boards, looks north toward Puget Sound and Mount Baker. Its
bath is just across the landing and gazes out over the wide back lawns.
The Chimney Room, named for its most prominent feature, also looks onto
the back gardens and is nostalgically stuffed with things you'll remember
from that long ago stay a Aunt May's. Fresh flowers scent each room.
Rural Whidbey Island offers a host of ways to make a memorable visit.
Whether you
prefer beach walking, cycling, fishing, golf, wineries, movies, live theater
or rock 'n roll, it's at hand. The Maine Stay is located just 1 1/2 blocks
from Langley's enticing shops, galleries and restaurants. |
